In this article, it explains Paul Martins resignation as the liberal leader of Canada. This event reflects events in Zugzwang from when Jacob stepped down as Prime Minister. Paul Martin was a political leader of the Canadian government. At any moment anybody can step down. It represents democracy in that after a leader resigns, an election will begin and the people will get to choose a new leader for the country.

In this article, it elaborates the federal government of Canada's decision to cap the caffeine levels in energy drinks. This event reflects government regulation in Zugzwang. In Zugzwang, there was a certain cap on how much one could sell a food unit for. This article explains the federal government of Canada announcing a cap on caffeine levels in energy drinks. This reflects government regulation in that they have the power to make these substantial decisions on our lives. In Zugzwang the decision to cap the sale of food units was made in the peoples interest. The federal government of Canada also made the decision to cap caffeine levels in energy drinks because it is in the peoples best interests in regards to health.

In this article, Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd was charged for a contract breach. This event reflects events in Zugzwang from when Angela was sued for breaching a contract, and was given a fairly hefty sentence. In the article it stated, "Breach of a Consent Agreement is a serious offence under section 66 of the Competition Act." It shows how we set certain standards for certain crimes. People who j-walk in Canada usually aren't even apprehended. But people who do something such as drive while drunk, breach contracts etc will be dealt with accordingly with the law. Angela was also found guilty of slander right after but her sentencing was close to nothing. This reflects how we as a society place these ideals of what we should and shouldn't do, and how and/or if we choose to deal with it.

This article elaborates the vote of no confidence that was made against Stephen Harper in 2011. The opposition parties alleged that Mr. Harper was in contempt of parliament for failure to fully disclose financial details of his anti-crime legislation, corporate tax cuts and plans to buy 65 American-made stealth fighter jets. Lawmakers voted 156 to 45 to end Stephen Harper's minority government. This reflects democracy in that if the people don't feel the government is doing a good job in ruling the country then they have the power to get rid of them. In Zugzwang a vote of no confidence was made against Nathan and he was voted out of government. A vote of no confidence was made because Nathan formed a dictatorship and the citizens of Zugzwang were not pleased with it. They were opposed to his was of running the country and so a motion of no confidence was created.
